Another beta update is out

I’ve just uploaded another update of the beta version to Google Play. It’ll be available within a few hours, and it contains a lot of changes compared to the last beta update. Here’s a list of the main changes:

  • Fixed issues with movie and TV show updates
  • Fixed issues with disappearing text in grid views, i.e. movie / show titles and actor names
  • Fixed some database issues
  • Fixed “Up navigation” when accessing movies and TV shows from the widgets
  • Improved parsing of director, writer and guest stars in TV show episodes
  • No longer show details if there aren’t any in TV show episodes
  • Users can now change the size of “small files”
  • The “Ignore .nfo files” setting now also ignores custom cover art and background images, resulting in better performance – this is enabled by default
  • Changed file naming of movie collection covers, so you’ll need to re-update your library to get them to work

So, that’s the change log of the newest beta update. There’ll be just one more beta update before the final version gets released, and that update will be coming within a week or so. The final version is expected to be out in less than two weeks.

  1. Very(!) nice work, Michell!
Looking forward to the final release. Damn, if you compare this awesome piece of work to all those crappy apps out there… I just hope Mizuu doesn’t remain the kind of insiders’ tip it is right now.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

  2. Hi Michell,
I still have issue with filter (watched /unwatched movie), any way to manually mark movies as watched?

    • Hi!

Eh, not sure what the problem is. Just go to a movie, hit the options menu and press “Mark as watched”.

      • When the error occurs, I don’t get a popup, the app just closes, my tablet goes back to my home screen, and the update process that was showing in the notification bar just disappears … but after some more tries, trying to get the popup, I decided to wipe the app info with Titanium backup, and then the update finally worked up to 100%, it’s weird, because two betas ago, everything worked without wiping app info!

  5. I am not sure what is wrong, but neither this nor the previous beta works for me, the “update library” is broken, when it starts updating it says “updating 0%” and then the app just closes, I had to go back to previous version to update the library, everything else works right, just the update is wrong!

    • Please report the crash and make sure you add a comment with your name, so I know it’s your report. Sounds strange.

      • Do you mean a report from inside the app, before or after it closes?

        • When the application crashes, it’ll show a dialog. You can report the crash from that dialog.

          • Well, the good part is that there’s no big problem wiping and just updating the library again!

I also noticed that if it recognizes wrongly a movie, and the I do it manually, the front cover doesn’t change to the new one, I tried restarting the app to see if it would refresh, but no luck.

            Best regards

        • I’ll just respond here…

That sounds like a caching issue. Or rather an issue with clearing the cache. It can be caused by a number of things, and I can’t really do much about it. The good news is that the correct cover is downloaded and will be used once the cache clears.

This is just THE BEST APP if it’s kind.
