I’m going to do a Christmas give away!

It’s Christmas time and I’ve decided to do something about it. On December 24 and 25, the full version of Mizuu will be completely free of charge on Android Market. Yep, you read it. Free. It won’t cost you a thing. Nada. Zip.

If you’re using the free version of Mizuu, it’d be a great time to upgrade to the full version. That’ll make you get rid of the ads and you’ll get faster and more frequent updates.

I’ve posted my idea on Reddit Android, hoping that other Android developers will follow suit and offer their apps for free on these two Christmas days. Please have a look at the Reddit thread and upvote, if you like the idea.

I’ll keep you posted on the progress of this idea, but until then: Happy Holidays!

Update: Oh God. There’s already a problem. If developers change the price of their applications to free, it’s a permanent change, i.e. it can’t be changed back to whatever it was before. Looks like we need to think of something alternative…

Second update: Looks like I’ll have to just reduce the price to the minimum asking price – $0.99. I’ll make it last through out December instead then.

  1. Hi,
Nice idea! Even if I have bought it, I will never regret it. your soft is so great! maybe you can change it to 10cents for Christmas?

    • Thanks Tim! Unfortunately, the lowest asking price in Market is $0.99. The 10 cent campaign was something Google set up, and it’s sadly not something developers can do themselves.

  3. Could you upload it to the market as a separate app for free and take it down after Christmas?

Alternatively, you can do what some reddit devs do and give a refund after receiving an email with a code or something, kind of like a mail in rebate.

    • gah I just realized my first idea would never work, as people wouldn’t be able to redownload it/get updates. Ignore that.
