Custom cover art in TV shows

This is a requested feature and I would of course love to make it possible, but there are a few things holding me back, and I’d like to get your feedback on it.

The big difference between movies and TV shows is that there’s just one entry with a movie and multiple entries with a TV show and all its episodes.

In Movies, you simply name the custom cover art file the same as your video file, and you’re done. But what about TV show files? If you have multiple files, which one of them should you base the filename of? Just any of them or one? Or perhaps the name of the TV show itself?

Feel free to bring your feedback in the comments – thanks! 🙂

PS. I didn’t really have a photo to go with this post, so I thought I’d just post a picture of my dog wearing an Android t-shirt. He’s so cute in it! 🙂

  1. The name of the TV Show would make sense…

  3. The problem with this is that the names some times don’t match. “Shit My Dad Says” is the spoken title of a TV show, but it returns no results when searching on thetvdb.com. If a user were to put a custom cover art file called “Shit My Dad Says.jpg” on their device, it wouldn’t show up because it’s not the correct title. The problem is that you can’t have a filename that includes “$#*!”, which is used in the correct written title.

    • I meant the name of the tv show as it is in your files… if that’s the case for “Shit My Dad Says” how do you name the files for this show in order to be recognized as the tv show by the app? Name the image the same name but without the S##E## part…

  5. I’m actually thinking about creating user interfaces for everything – custom cover art and custom movie data. That way it’ll be extremely easy to edit and change data, both movie data and cover art.
