Regarding bugs in the latest beta update

So, I’ve received quite a few bug reports and people saying that things don’t work anymore. Seems I might have rushed the latest update to just “get it out there”. I’m sorry about that, but it’s a beta, so stuff like that can happen.

I won’t have much time for development until next week, so please keep reporting issues (and successes!), so I can get a good understanding of the issues. Also, please be as specific and detailed as possible.

Thanks!

Update: There’s a new version going up as I write this. It’s called 19012013. It should  be available within a few hours, and will enable Ethernet users to make use of network support and hopefully fix a crash when browsing network shares.

  1. Could you post known issues so your not flooded with email.

    • I’d love to, but it wouldn’t make much sense. Some people have problems, others don’t. It’s incredibly confusing right now.

  3. Samba (SMB) not working for me. Input IP address and log in as guest, but get a ‘something went wrong’ message. I know the information is correct, as I can access network folders with same inputs via ES File Explorer. Great job thus far, would be thrilled with network access.

    • All right. Please try the 19012013 update that’s available in a few hours. It’ll give more detailed error messages, if it’s still happening.

  6. Hi Michell,

    Great work!!!!

Network folder (samba) is working for me.
And I can play movies with Archos, Bsplayer, Dice player and MX player.

Thanks a lot for this great app.

Note: Can you please add option to use the “English Title” instead of “Original Title” during updating library ?
I would like to see “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” instead of “Wo hu cang long” (original chinese title).

    Thank you,
    Kim

    • Awesome! I’ll do something to include both the local variant and original title.

    • Can you send me an email of the list of files and folders in the root of the SMB share? I have a feel that some names are messing stuff up

    • DLNA isn’t coming any time soon. Samba support is the top priority at the moment.

  9. it seem the ip for the server change and this is the problem !!
so can you make ip changer for the source
thats way the dlna will be great
    thanks!

    • You should be able to set your PC to a fixed IP address. That’s really not a problem with Mizuu, but rather a problem with your network share setup. Alternatively, you can use the host name of your PC instead of the IP address – that doesn’t change, and Mizuu will automatically look up the correct IP address from the host name.

  11. Bug: Update with “remove unavaliable files” -> all files will be removed. Not just the unavaliable files. if i change one File it will be good if just this one file will be updated not every file.
Suggestion: is it possible to make the IP adress which entered and the settings there Permanent?
and: is it possible the identifyer to ignore things within “(” and “)” ?

  12. Great to see a build with the SMB support but I’m having a weird problem. My TV shows are on one DNS-323 and I have no problem with them but my movies are on another DNS-323 (2 x2TB in JBOD) and mizuu only finds 21 of ~600 movies. Movies are all in their own sub folders and properly named.

Oh and I’m using an N7

    • Cheers! There are some weird issues with sub-folder searching that I’ll look into within the next few days.

  13. I’ve been able to successfully detect TV Shows (a sub-folder on a a share, containing other sub-folders too) but that didn’t work for Movies (exact folder structure), it starts scanning, it shows 0% but disappears after 5 seconds and no movie is detected.

    • Thanks, there’s still something wrong with sub-folder scanning. I’m going to check it out today or tomorrow.

  14. I managed to get my network media into the Mizuu library by running a bypass via CIFS manager. All my network folders now show and mizuu can access them like they were local folders but scanning them Mizzu is missing so many shows, putting them in an unidentified folder with blank meta data. Please reenable the unidentified shows feature so i can manually correct these files. Moreover i see no way of changing cover art once the show is added to library.

To those that have nstwork issues like i had with mizuu not identifying the smb network or trying to add movies via network, CiFs is a great way to get around this problem and also works with xbmc.

    • I’m working on the TV show stuff as we speak.

Also, I’m sure we can find a way to get the network feature working for you. I’d appreciate it if you’d send me an email with details about your setup and what you’ve tried.
