What do you think of the slide-in menu design?

Hey guys, I’m interested to know what you think of the slide-in menu that’s used in quite a few apps now. Facebook, Google+, YouTube and Spotify are among the apps that make use of this instead of a “chooser” screen like used in Mizuu. I actually quite like it and see a lot of advantages with it, so I’m considering adding it in Mizuu.

What do you guys think of it?

Update: I’ve decided to go with it and I’ve actually already implemented it across the application. It works great! Here’s a sneak preview:

  1. Looks great.

Seems to give you a lot more screen real estate.

    Looking forward to the update!

  2. I agree with Jerry, plus you don’t have to back out to the root menu to go to another area.

    • Hey, thanks for your feedback and suggestions! Regarding YouTube subscriptions, I think you’re probably going to be most happy with the official YouTube app. Subtitles could be an upcoming feature 🙂

  4. looks great! Now get rid of the welcome screen entirely. how about an option to set what category shows at launch then.

  5. Make sure the arrow next to the logo disappears when the menu is closed. That’s how YouTube does it and it looks cleaner

    • That actually happens when the menu is opened, not closed. Anyway, my implementation is different from the one in YouTube. Mine allows the user to toggle the visibility of the menu while YouTube doesn’t. Hiding the arrow works in their implementation, but not in mine.
