Play problem on filename with spaces (samba source)
Hi

I really like your app and it works great, but I'm having any problems playing files with spaces over samba.

Detection of files and metadata retrieval, covers, etc. works perfectly, but when I try to play the videos with a third-party video player, the file names with spaces can not be played (Error opening file)

I use BSPlayerFree or Samsung Stock ROM video player and both fail.
If I try to play video from a file manager with support samba (eg ESFileExplorer), open a third-party video player works properly (I think that this discard player problems)

If you were on a Windows environment I'd say you've left double quotation marks in the file name ...but I do not know on android

I use a DLink DNS313 NAS video sharing (over samba, not uPNP)
I use too a Samsung GalaxyTabPro SM-T900 with android 4.4.2 and Mizuu.

Thank you very much and greetings

Hi there!

Have you tried any other video players? I can't say I've had such issues, and Mizuu does handle correct coding of the spaces, so it's pretty strange.

Cheers
Michell

If something's not working, it's probably my fault. Let me know.

Hi there!

I just installed MXPlayer and I have the same problem... any suggestions?
The space management seems correct (because retrieves metadata correctly) but as if the name does not come right to the player

Mizuu v2.8.9.2
MxPlayer v1.7.31
BSPlayerFree v1.17 build 170

for example (windows paths):

\\magatzem\Dades\Video\Series\AAA BBB CCC\AAA BBB CCC 7x01 [xxx] ZZZ.avi not work (folder and filename with spaces)
\\magatzem\Dades\Video\Series\AAA BBB CCC\AAA.BBB.CCC.7x01.[xxx].ZZZ.avi work (folder with spaces)

RE: Play problem on filename with spaces (samba source)
Honestly, I have no idea why it's happening. It's not something I've ever experienced or heard anyone else have issues with. Also, the code does format the URL correctly, so spaces should work.

If you have the option of using UPnP instead of SMB, I'd highly recommend that instead.

If something's not working, it's probably my fault. Let me know.

RE: Play problem on filename with spaces (samba source)
Hi there

My NAS supports uPNP but not very stable so I've ruled out its use.

I will try to remove the spaces in the folder and do some more testing on another device but I think that was the same problem on my Galaxy S3

Thank you

Hello again

I've done more testing and I think the problem is not due to the spaces if not the + symbol containing the files that I have with spaces (sorry). It might be possible?

original file: AAA BBB [HD+DVB].avi not work
renamed file: AAA BBB [HD-DVB].avi works !!

Hmm... I'll try it out. Added an issue for it here:

Hi again!

I think I found the culprit! It'll be fixed with the next version.

Please send me your e-mail address at [email protected] if you're interested in trying it out ahead of time
