I don't see any difference between the two on a Nexus 7 - I was expecting that the horizontaol scroll view would be a large, single image. I'm sure this is yet to come, let me know if I missed something in setup.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific. The nightly builds don't currently include the horizontal scroll view.
If you're using 1.7.9.3, then the build you're using hasn't been made for the Nexus 7. It'll of course be large enough to fill the screen in the version that's made for the Nexus 7.
